King flew out from the coast, his eyes trained carefully on the crashing water below. He was hunting, flying high among the wind and sky. He felt endlessly powerful up here- if anything so much as moved, he could strike it with unmatched speed. He often tried to duplicate this feeling in day-to-day life, training himself endlessly for whatever battles may come, but it was hard to do when not all of his crewmates cared to be as prepared as him. He was loyal to all of the pirates, but he only respected one bird wholeheartedly: Silverhook. She was powerful and strong, a steady leader for the pirates to rely on. And she had taken him in at such a young age. It was an act of kindness he would never be able to repay, no matter how hard he tried. She led them in hundreds of victorious plunderings and birdfights, attacking with skill unparalleled. King just hoped he would be as powerful a leader as she. He had learned everything he knew about pirateing from her, and she had helped him adapt and find skills he never knew he had. He was endlessly thankful, but he would never be able to tell her that.
Suddenly, he stopped flying and circled around. His entire body was arched downward, ready to strike. In a split second, he tucked, straightened and divebombed, barely splashing the water with his straight, sleek figure. He hit with incredible speed, diving down almost a dozen winglengths. He fastened his long, sharp beak on a medium-sized squid, which filled the water with blue-black ink. He burst out of the water, shaking off his head as he flew back towards the coastline with his prey.
