Simon let out a loud grunt of effort as he landed, it had been a long flight through the desert this time, and he wasn't the fastest flier around. Though he wouldn't admit it, he was probably one of the slowest Macaws in the world. Sometimes he thinks it would be easier to just walk everywhere, he was fairly quick for a bird when it came to running. The mostly red macaw stretched out his blue and green wings as he approached a source of water, a small stream. Although he is a rather relaxed bird, he remained vigilant, knowing just how dangerous some of the larger predators could be around here. He would prefer to avoid conflict if possible.
He yawned wearily as he bent down and took a few large drinks from the stream. The water was as sweet as honey to the parched bird, the dry desert had taken it's tole on the large macaw and he wasn't used to the extreme heat. Although he was a traveler, it was his first trip across the desert, and a rather unpleasant trip at that. "Well at least I'm out of that dusty old place, nothing but dunes and dry air. A bird would have to be crazy to want to live there." He grumbled to himself, rather displeased with the barren desert. The Lion's Realm was much more pleasing to him. At least they had trees here.

A tall white and black figure moved among the grass with long strides, black quill-like feathers bobbing on it's head. Two amber eyes observed the grasslands for prey, not leaving out a single meter. There! The long-legged secretarybird froze in place and fixed it's gaze on the spot where it saw movement. The secretarybird swiftly trotted near the place where she saw the grass move. There she began stomping on the ground with her long pink legs until the animal, a Puff adder, creeped out of a grass clump and started slithering away. But the bird didn't let it escape. She leaped towards the snake and began trampling and stomping on it's back, sometimes grabbing it with her beak and throwing it into the air. Finally the snake gave up and remained laying unconscious on the ground. The tall bird then grabbed the snake and with few quick steps she took off and flew to a nearby stream. She lapped up few waterdrops and just wanted to eat the snake, when she spotted a color that sure didn't belong to the usual browns and yellows of Lion's Realm. She grabbed the snake again and with her head tilted to a side she stepped a bit closer. "Whoa, well, this is a truly unusual sight. If I'm not mistaken, macaws usually live in the Jungle."sanuta

Simon turned to see a tall bird approach him, she was quite lovely despite not having brightly colored feathers. He greeted her with a friendly expression and gentle tone. "Well hello there darling, I happen to be a traveler who just arrived in the area, although I am originally from the Jungle. My sister and I are rather adventurous and we quite like a good adventure despite the threat of danger. Although it has been a while since I have seen her, she's probably continuing on just like me. My parents remain in the jungle though, they rather dislike the idea of exploring the world." He tilted his head to the side, giving her a rather curious look. "Oh excuse my rambling, I am truly sorry my dear. I can be a bit long winded at times." He gave her a smile as he chuckled to himself. "I am called Simon, what is your name?"

She accepted the macaw's greetings with a raised eyebrow. She didn't expect that much of talking for the first time they met, usually birds around the Ugwadule Desert were quite untrusting at first. It was obvious that he wasn't from here. But what could she expect? He was a macaw, a parrot, and parrots had always big talkative beaks. As he introduced himself, she looked at him from above (both physically from her tall height and expression-wise), and dropping down the snake, she said: "It's fine. Well, it is nice to meet you, Simon, my name is Nefer-u-pthah, but birds mostly just call me Nefer" 'Or Giraffe' she thought, but didn't say it. Yes, her infamous nickname, earned for her unusually tall figure even for a secretarybird. "So, you said that you travel? Where have you been so far?" she asked the red bird. An ordinary habitant of the desert and savannah wouldn't answer her or would ask "How is that any of your bussiness?", but she could bet that this one will talk. She was quite curious about the new places, amd wanted to hear where this macaw was and where she wasn't. sanuta

He was silent for only a moment, listening to the tall bird. A nickname referring to her height? Was she insecure about this? She was quite tall, though this did not bother him. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Nefer. That is quite a lovely and unique name." He said honestly, no hint of sarcasm in his tone. Quite the curious bird, did birds in this area not socialize like in the jungle? He hadn't stopped on his way through here the first time. "Well darling, as I said before I am originally from the jungle. I traveled from there with my sister across some water to a place called the Red Mountains, that was a rather dangerous place filled with venomous creatures so we decided to leave as quickly as possible. We then went to a city, this place was filled with humans and weird constructions and machines, it was also dangerous there so we left in quite the hurry. We then found an open plains where we were separated by a large storm, I stayed there for a while to try and find her and came across a place called the Sandstone city. A lot of birds lived there and they were fairly friendly, though they hadn't seen my sister either. I crossed the desert in hopes of returning to the Jungle to find her, and ended up here." As he finished speaking he let out a heavy sigh. His sister had been a wonderful traveling companion, traveling alone was not quite as fun without her. He wouldn't admit it, but he missed her dearly. Nefer gave the macaw a small nod as he spoke. An unique name? Maybe for him, almost every second bird in the desert area had a similar name. When he began telling his story, she folded her long legs under her and sat down to be at the same level with Simon. She listened as he spoke of Red Mountains, then the city ( 'What are humans?'), the plains, the Sandstone city.. But what has caught her interest was one of the last things he mentioned. "You crossed the desert? That's quite impressive, considering that you are a jungle bird." she said. Nefer herself strayed in the desert only few times in her youth, only out of curiosity. It wasn't a place one would really want to live in. Plus there was this tribe. "And tell me, when you were crossing the desert, have you stumbled upon a savage group of vultures and marabous called Mtulu's Tribe?"sanuta

He gave her a small nod as she responded, praising his ability to cross the vast desert. "Yes, it was quite the exhausting journey. Though well worth it. Exploring is a most wondrous thing and I intend to press on no matter how difficult a task may lie ahead." He grew silent as she spoke of a savage tribe, though he had not seen nor heard of them before, she had peaked his interest. "No, I haven't. Though I would love to possibly see them...from a distance." He added, not really wanting to get too close to these so-called savages. "Are you perhaps, looking for them Nefer? If so I very much like to join you. Though I do not wish to intrude." Icara (Sorry it took so long D: I've been busy with work.)
