*Name: Jökulhlaup
Nickname: Joker
*Class: Aves
*Species: Fulmarus glacialoides (southern fulmar)
*Age: adult
*Gender: female
*Personality:
Jökulhlaup is a relatively calm, observant fulmar.
It prefers to remain on its own, and watch unfolding events from a distance.
It is rare for the bird to approach anything strange that isn't absolutely calm itself, and will immediately extract itself from any threatening situations where it has no business being around.
Despite this, in direct confrontations the bird has difficulties backing down, its normally peaceful demeanor flipping around.
The bird has a strong sense of loyalty to those it befriends, respects, or trusts, and a built-in impulse to defend those it cares for.
It utilizes skill more than brute strength in fights, aiming for vulnerabilities.
The bird has a playful side, and enjoys challenging others to races and the like, believing in fairness and loopholes during such contests.
Although it doesn't mind assisting others, it hates being taken advantage of, and despises any who think themselves high and mighty, sometimes going out of its way just to show them how much the fool they really are.
It doesn't have any qualms about theft, even when times are not particularly tough.
The fulmar absolutely despises felines; big cats are especially hated, and lions have been deemed the worst out of all them.
It is somewhat paranoid that a particular pride of lions are on its trail.
*Appearance:
Jökulhlaup is a fairly average-looking southern fulmar.
Its body is, overall, a soft silvery-grey and white, with a fairly indistinct gradient of being slightly darker dorsally than ventrally.
The wings are a very light, pale slate grey, with blackish primaries and secondaries.
The tail feathers are a bit longer and wider than normal, and are spattered with greys in a range of tones.
The bird's face is equally freckled, though the crown and bill are relatively free of speckles.
Its bill is smooth and sharply hooked on the end, delicate pink with a black tip and faded bluish naricorns.
Its eyes are noticeably bright, irises a pale amber hue with large, round pupils.
Feathers are dense and downy.
Legs and skin are a dim bluish pink.

*Personal history:
When it was young, Jökulhlaup did many foolish things.
It once flew with a flock who would go around pestering and stealing from others.
They backed down from no challenge, and it was their unending play and taunts around even far greater predators that would eventually lead to the death of some of their members, and although it didn't happen immediately, the effects of these losses was what led to the rest of the group's members parting ways.
Afterwards, the fulmar ended up becoming a messenger, passing messages along between groups and individuals alike.
Although this job worked well for quite some time, and it did, indeed, enjoy it, at some point in its travels it found itself getting caught in a storm, and blown so far off-course that it had no idea how to get back.
It decided that it wasn't worth the trouble trying to return, that this new stretch of land and sea may yet hold some promise, so it chose to settle.
After some half-hearted attempt at returning to the messenger business, taking on a recruiting job from a lion that sought for itself a group to lead, and only briefly venturing deeper into the landscape before deciding that the land was no place for the likes of it.
It ended up settling on a particular stretch of shoreline, enduring the seasons alone while it tried to think of what it wanted to do.
With only its thoughts to accompany it through the time, it slowly began to grow more and more convinced that the land behind it had been taken over by arrogant, warring lions, and that, sooner or later, an assassin would be hired to take out the affronting bird.
Unable to take it any longer, the sea bird decided on returning to the ocean, hoping to find lands or waters that might yet hold better opportunities, or else wander forever.
For some years the fulmar coasted through the currents, with only the occasional company of other sea life, or the rare visit to an isolated island.
After all that time, finally a bigger landmass has arisen from the ocean, though may yet prove to be just another stop on a lifelong journey.
